The Weight

Pulling down heavier than lead, downwards always, down, down, down. The full effect felt, affecting not the body - the body is strong, resistant - no, the malady borne not on the physic, but on the soul.

Pulling down, with it an inch of self evaporates, lost to a void, to a darkness found after the light gave itself over in tired resignation.

Patiently the weary traveller trudges on. On, on and on with the weight around his neck and the hint of an unextinguished smile on his lips.
